The smartphone, tablet and laptop have become more prevalent than the desktop computer for a decent amount of time. While you’ll still see the desktop computer in the office or school, the majority of people use a laptop, tablet, and/or smartphone. Smartphones, laptops, and tablets are convenient and portable in comparison to the desktop computer. However, the desktop may be making a comeback.

Thanks to Matt Dalio, the CEO of Endless Computers, Dalio has created the first “simplified, robust and affordable desktop aimed at emerging market consumers.” The computer costs $169, which is pretty affordable for a computer. In comparison to most desktop computers such as Windows starting at approximately $299 and the iMac at over $1,000, $169 is a solid deal for this quality desktop. The CEO also made a good point about how desktop computers are still relevant today, even with the endless amount of smartphone users.

In addition, desktop computers are more flexible in that they’re less likely to be stolen or broken and they usually last longer than a laptop. The desktop is also convenient for those who work from home and don’t need to carry their work around with them.

The desktop is also ideal for the multitasker in that the screen is bigger than a smartphone, tablet or laptop and it’s easy to have many tabs open at once. While Dalio’s invention is compact in comparison to the original desktop, it can still offer the same advantages.

At KnockMedia, we are even still using the desktop computer. Most of us also have laptops, smartphones and tablets but the desktop computer is still relevant in the office. It’s simple to have multiple tabs open and accomplish tasks thanks to the big screen. Other forms of the original desktop computer have taken over the technology world but the desktop computer isn’t leaving in the near future.
