In 365 days so much has changed….like the huge hole in the wall for example.

Today we had an anniversary in the office. Matt has been here a year. It’s a big deal because in the past year so much has changed here at KnockMedia. And it’s all good.

When Matt started we were in a different office space, across the hall from where we are now. We were in shared incubator space set up by the state of Connecticut for growing technology companies. It was, how should I put this? It was cozy. Definitely cozy. So cozy in fact that in our 10×10 space was a desk for another company in the same program.

On June 1 of last year we moved across the hall, to our own designated space. This was HUGE!! So much had changed, we had our very own keys (yay!) and we no longer had access to state funded coffee (boo!) but things were really changing here at KnockMedia. Our project sizes were growing, our referral business was gaining significant traction. Our core team and culture was being cemented and we were having a very good, albeit stressful, time.

By Christmas things were really humming, we had our first annual poker tournament. Which I won. And we sat around and talked about all the things we were going to do with KnockMedia in 2014. We had rolled out a new site, rebranded ourselves with a new logo, new focus and new mission to our clients and to our team. We agreed on where our strengths and weaknesses were and how we could all complement each other’s skill sets to gain better project opportunities. We had big plans for 2014. Like, silly big. But we had them.

In the past few weeks it was time to grow again. With our whiteboard wall full of projects in various stages of development and many more in the queue waiting to be closed we decided to break through the wall and double our office space.

It took about 2 weeks, and this place was a dusty mess and couldn’t reach the coffee or water for a few days there without having to walk behind furniture and the tv, but it was so worth it!  Just the other day the huge hole was properly framed out and we got the carpet laid and the doors hung. It’s really quite nice – you should come see it. We’ll take you to lunch down the street at the Asian noodle place after, they have the best noodles, it’s so good!

matts cakeBut today is Matt’s one year anniversary. One whole year where we have committed to growing a business based on providing solid technical and business insight. One whole year where we have each honed our own business and technical skills and one whole year from where we went from just getting to know each other, to relying on each other to get things done for clients that seemed impossible. It’s been a great year.

So thanks Matt!!! For being a critical part of an awesome year… 6 more months left to blow our silly big goals out of the water. Let’s do this.

Happy 1st Birthday Matt…
