It was only the second week in November and I went to buy a sought after toy for my niece for her birthday. The shelves were empty. Absolutely bare. I double checked with a salesperson and sure enough, they were sold out. Is this a sign of things to come this season? Are none of us getting what we want? Hopefully adults will have better luck with receiving items from their wish list.

Before we talk about the actual items that I know you are going to want to add to your wish lists, let’s talk about the fact that there is now an app to organize all of this for you. This app will help you decide what to buy and ask for. IBM’s Watson Trend App is your ultimate shopping assistant. It is more than just a gift guide, this app will give you ratings and availability of items as well.

Now that you have an app to help you figure out what to ask for, you might want to check out Flipp- this location based app will help you make your purchases. Flipp gathers circulars, cost comparisons and even now that Black Friday is over, it will continue to send you deals. This app eliminates the need to search through the circulars this holiday season.

One of the hottest items this year is one you probably one you would have guessed – the Apple Watch is still one of the most talked about tech gifts of the season. Hoverboards are also a really hot item but were recently made illegal in New York City – so be mindful of the rules for this item. Drones are a popular gift as well coming in a variety of models with prices ranging from $50 to thousands of dollars. Other tech items that are hot this season are the FitBit and GoPro.

Now for the cool tech items you probably wouldn’t have guessed. Believe it or not, one of the most desired items for the holidays are still TV’s. Check out the OLED TV’s- these are the ones with curved screens that give an absolutely stunning quality of picture. These TVs are credit card thin and a vast improvement over both LCD and plasma TVs.

Another gift to put on your wish list is a phone case from the Otterbox’s Symmetry Series. We all love the protection the Otterbox can provide but question the bulkiness. This new Symmetry Series are thinner and lighter and have quite modern designs. How about the Casio ProTrek PRG 300 for anyone who loves the outdoors. This watch/compass/weather predictor is way ahead of its time – while still providing you with features of an old fashioned watch/stopwatch. Another unique techy gift to take a look at this year is the Wireless Body Analyzer – something we used to call a scale. This particular scale can detect your heart rate when you stand on it. You can have it connect to your iPad, iPhone or iTouch. This “scale” allows up to 8 users, each of who can establish their own personal profile.

As always, a quick and easy and always desired gift is a gift card. This holiday season, the most desired gift cards are VISA, Amazon, American Express, Itunes and Walmart.

As we all start our shopping and make our own personal wish lists, (or maybe have Watson Trend App do it for you), we here at KnockMedia wish you a happy holiday season!
