Social media clearly isn’t leaving us anytime soon. The utilization of social media grows exponentially as the years go on. We are all familiar with the apps Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest but little do we know that more social media platforms are in the works of becoming major hits.

If you already have difficulty keeping up with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, it’s understandable. It can be stressful making sure you are updating all of your followers, friends, connections, and pinners but there are other new social media applications that are definitely worth checking out.

One of these outlets is Periscope. Essentially, Periscope is a video sharing app that can expand your personal brand and allow for quick contact with others. With Periscope, users can broadcast live video to their followers and have instant face-to-face communication. Whether you’re in the office, at home, or on the go, Periscope is a convenient application that shows potential among numerous social media platforms.

Periscope is userfriendly in many ways. People are broadcasting on Periscope globally at any given moment so it is easy to see what people from other countries are up to. In addition, since Periscope is partnered with Twitter, you can tweet your followers when you are live. Multitasking on social media has never been simpler!

This app is also great for businesses. Periscope is a way to break news to a business’s online community before it is written about on other social media forms. The conversation with viewers can then lead to the creation of an innovative post. Periscope is also useful in taking viewers “behind the scenes” of a workplace so viewers can connect in a more personal way. Additionally, Periscope broadcasts can be utilized to provide content for a business’s other social media outlets.

You may think that this app isn’t any different than YouTube. However, Periscope is more efficient in that it only requires one person with a smartphone instead of a professional team to broadcast video of good quality to viewers. According to Periscope’s website, “Periscope lets you explore the world through the eyes of somebody else”. The app is designed to capture simple and quick moments in our lives while viewers “like” your broadcast or comment on your broadcast. It all starts with the tap of a button then your camera’s lens will instantly start streaming whatever it sees.

KnockMedia has utilized Periscope to connect on another level with our clients. Recently, an event was hosted by us where our own Nate Berger gave a speech that we streamed live on Periscope. We were able to communicate with devoted clients as well as attract the interest of new clients. Periscope has been beneficial to KnockMedia with quick, personal communication in addition to maintaining our brand and what we are all about.
